Tune 7! It’s one of the sweet Sally’s.

Not much to say about it, except that the first part is a confusing jumble of 0, 1 and 2 on the A string in a rambling line. I think the version I’m working from is something like 2 1 1 0 0 1 0 1 0 2 1 2 0 1 2 0 1 2 0 1…hmpf.

A little recap of these first tunes and the state of their progress so far:

Tune 1 – Jerusalem Ridge is as  fun as ever, and I’m almost done learning a solo from a Tony Rice version. And only three days of practice left on it…

Tune 2 – Shady Grove. Ended up playing it in public the other night.  And of course, the band’s take on it (fast and in G major) was a bit different from what I’ve come to know it as (easy-going minor tune in E or D). A.D. was right about learning songs in every key.

Tune 3 – Billy in the Lowground. Slow and steady

Tune 4 – Hangman’s reel. Slow and rocky.

Tune 5 – Minor Swing.  Fortunately, I have another eight days of practice on it! I think it’s my favourite of all of these though.

Tune 6 – Turkey in the Straw. My bread and butter, and place of solace after reaching for the high, *high* A on the E string in Minor Swing (yes, the one close to the bridge).
